Company Information

Please let me take a little of your time to introduce myself. I am Michael (Mike) W. Smith. I am President and C.E.O. of Texas “Hill Country” Lamb Company. I have a B.S. in Animal Production and a M.S. in Animal Nutrition from Texas Tech University. In addition, I have a Master of Agriculture degree in Farm and Ranch Management from Texas A&M University. While completing my degrees in agriculture, I was fortunate to serve as a graduate teaching assistant. During this period, I was able to teach several classes, including but not limited to, various classes in meat science.

Prior to attending college, I was continually involved in 4-H and F.F.A. programs where I held various leadership roles. As a member of 4-H and F.F.A., I exhibited lambs and steers at the major livestock shows across Texas and was a member of several livestock judging teams. After completing college, I was employed by the Farm Credit System for many years as C.E.O. of various associations. I have been involved in production agriculture for over thirty years running cattle, sheep, and goats on privately owned property and leased property.

I believe my education and practical experience provide me invaluable insight into owning and operating a business such as Texas “Hill Country“ Lamb.

I now live in Mason, Texas with my wife Martha, an education consultant. We have two grown sons Matthew and Hadley.
